'The Box' brings First World War archive to life through theatre

The Box, a new drama piece developed by Kabosh and supported by Creative Centenaries, will launch and run at the Ulster Museum throughout June.

Revolving around the experiences of First World War nurse Olive Swanzy who kept an archive of her time spent in the war through a collection of poems, sketches, cartoons, stories and drawings given to her by the soldiers in her care and collected in her autograph books.

Alongside this she also kept a record of her own experiences through a wealth of beautiful watercolours which document her time at war. Together they form an incredible picture of real people during extraordinary times.

Kabosh, in partnership with Creative Centenaries, will bring this incredible archive and its stories to life in a multi-artform theatre production.

Swanzy's original material will also be showcased for the first time as part of the Creative Centenaries #MakingHistory 1916 Exhibition launching at the Ulster Museum on June 3.

Taking place at the Ulster Museum every Saturday and Sunday, 12pm and 3pm, from June 5 to 19 2016.
