Looking Back to Look Forward: New 'Women in Politics' Film Launched

A new short film from Mid and East Antrim Borough Council features five of the Council’s female Elected Members sharing motivations behind their involvement in politics and issues important to them as a Councillor.

Created as part of the Looking Back to Look Forward project from Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, the film explores their reasons for joining politics, their contributions locally and their hopes and aspirations for the future.

Together, Alderman Audrey Wales, Councillor Cheryl Brownlee, Alderman Gerardine Mulvenna, Councillor Lauren Gray and Councillor Patricia O'Lynn reflect on their contributions to politics as women.

The film has been supported by the Shared History Fund administered by National Lottery Heritage Fund on behalf of the Northern Ireland Office.

You can see the physical exhibition at Mid-Antrim Museum, The Braid Ballymena until 29 January 2022 or visit the virtual exhibition online below.
