Interactive archive explores Tipperary family through First World War

The impact of the First World War on a family from Tipperary will be explored through a new online, interactive resource launched recently at the University of Limerick.

'It's a Long Way To Tipperary - An Irish Story Of The Great War' will highlight content from the Armstrong family of Moyaliffe Castle in a series of weekly bulletins running until the centenary of the end of the war in November 1918.

Diaries, correspondence, memorabilia and photographs will provide a unique insight into the physical and emotional toll of the war on families and society. Visitors to the site will be able to relive events as they unfolded 100 years ago.

Updated on a weekly basis, there will be photographs from Captain Pat Armstrong, updates from throughout the war and diaries and correspondence from the perspective of both soldiers and civilians throughout the war.
