The Creative Centenaries project has received initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to progress plans for a major cultural heritage programme to explore the Decade of Centenaries during 2016.

Ahead of the 100-year anniversaries of the Easter Rising and the Battle of the Somme in 2016, the ambitious project is putting together a large scale regional events programme and exciting touring exhibition regarding ‘100 Years of Change?’, as well as plans for hundreds of digital workshops in schools and local communities.

Creative Centenaries is keen to establish links with a range of partners and organisations across a range of organisations, in the delivery of the large-scale project. 

David Lewis, Director of Communications at the Nerve Centre, said: “The Creative Centenaries Exhibition, Events and Outreach Programme aims to explore our shared past in an inclusive way, and make learning and understanding of this key period in Ireland’s history more accessible to everyone.

“We are very keen to hear from potential partners and organisations with ideas around the Decade of Centenaries who may wish to be involved with the project, including those from the arts, heritage, cultural, education and community sectors.”

Paul Mullan, Head of the Heritage Lottery Fund in Northern Ireland, said: “This is a great opportunity to explore the alternative narratives of 100 years ago and we would encourage groups to participate in this creative, wide reaching and strategic response to 2016."
