Actors Required for Major Easter Rising Centenary Pageant

Gasyard Féile are calling on local people to take part in a major re-enactment of the 1916 Easter Rising being staged in Derry next month.

The street pageant will feature key figures including Padraig Pearse and James Connolly, and will culminate in the trials and executions of these Easter Rising leaders.

Auditions of the event, being held to mark 100th anniversary of the Rising, will be held in Cultúrlann Uí Chánain (Great James Street) from 2.00pm to 4.00pm this Saturday, February 27.

Actors of all ages and abilities are invited to attend.

A Féile spokesperson said the re-enactment would be the “biggest ever staged in Derry” and would be the highlight of this year’s Gasyard Féile and of the year-long commemoration events being staged across the city.

“We are inviting actors and, indeed, citizens who may wish to participate to come along to Cultúrlann on Saturday.

“The cast required will portray personalities as diverse as leaders Pearse, Connolly, Clarke and Markievicz to British army officers, nurses, priests and civilian citizens.

“Whether you are a serious actor or would simply like to take part as an extra, we would encourage you to come along this Saturday to find out what part you could play.”
