15 May 2021
About this Event
The free online conference series ‘Burning of the Custom House’ commemorates the centenary of the burning of the custom house in Dublin in 1921 during the War of Independence.
The latest talk in this weekly series will take place on Saturday 15 May 2021 at 8pm, live streamed on Facebook.
‘The Old Spot by the River – Liberty Hall, Custom House and the Dublin Dockland Rebels’ is led by local historian Joe Mooney, founding member of the East Wall History Group and the Sean O’Casey Festival. He will explore the history of the Dublin Port area, particularly the strong links with trade unionism, and the links with the attack on the Custom House.
