The partition of Ireland in 1921 had huge ramifications for almost all aspects of life on both sides of the newly created border. Two new justice systems were created, with both jurisdictions adopting wholly different approaches to economic and social issues. The creation of the border also created major disruptions, with checks and stops at the border becoming the norm.
On 25 March 2021 at 5pm, Imagine Belfast is hosting a free online talk on the impact of the creation of the border with Dr Cormac Moore (Dublin City Council). Dr Moore will discuss the day-to-day implications of partition, and the complex ways that society both north and south of the border was affected by this change.
