About this Event

On 12 May 2021, the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI), together with the University of Kent and the History Teachers’ Association NI (HTANI), will launch a new resource for exploring the period 1900–25 on the island of Ireland.

Based on documents from PRONI’s collections, the resource provides accounts of this period from a range of sources and perspectives. It encompasses some of the most significant events in modern Irish history, from the introduction of the Third Home Rule Bill to the First World War, the Easter Rising, and partition and formation of Northern Ireland. The resource is tailored to support A-level study in particular, but will be of interest to anyone exploring this period in modern Irish History.

The launch, which will take place online from 2pm3pm, features speakers Janet Hancock (PRONI), Dr Timothy Bowman (University of Kent) and Jim McBride (HTANI). Together they will showcase this new resource and discuss a selection of the records included in it.
