The Origins of Northern Ireland 1912–25: From Home Rule to Partition and the Formative Early Years

On Wednesday 28 April 2021, the Northern Ireland Executive launches its free online lecture series, ‘Perspectives on the Creation of Northern Ireland/ Partition’. This series of four virtual lectures will be hosted by the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Alex Maskey MLA, and presented by Dr Éamon Phoenix, historian and broadcaster.

The first lecture, entitled, ‘The Origins of Northern Ireland 1912-25: From Home Rule to Partition and the Formative Early Years’, will take place on Wednesday 28 April at 7pm.

The event will be hosted in conjunction with Ann Donnelly of Northern Ireland Screen to bring the events to life with imagery and video from the time.

To launch the series, the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Alex Maskey MLA will be joined by the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Rt Hon Lindsay Hoyle MP and the Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann, Seán Ó Fearghaíl TD.
