Garrett Carr's book, ‘The Rule of the Land: Walking Ireland's Border’, was published by Faber in 2017 and was a BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week. To write it, he travelled Ireland's border, by foot and sometimes in a canoe, also creating maps of the border that have been exhibited widely. In this talk Garrett will discuss some of the challenges of representing Ireland's border, both visually and in words. 
  
Garrett is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Queen's University, Belfast. He has been involved in a number of other recent projects, including the Border People ‘s Manifesto (2018) and touring exhibition Mapping Alternative Ulster (ongoing).
