Margaret MacMillan

Professor Margaret MacMillan will deliver the 2016 Keith Jeffrey Memorial Lecture. 

Margaret is the Warden of St Antony’s College and a Professor of International History at the University of Oxford.  

Her books include Women of the Raj (1988, 2007); Paris 1919: Six Months that Changed the World (2001); and Nixon in China: Six Days that Changed World (2007); The Uses and Abuses of History; The War That Ended Peace (2013).  Her most recent book is History’s People, published in February 2016.  

In memory of Professor Keith Jeffery who died early this year, remembered in the Guardian as ‘an affable and warm-hearted historian’. 

Keith completed his last major work ‘1916: A Global History’ the year before he died.  A major influence on his many students first at Ulster and then at Queen’s University, this special event will reflect Keith’s special interest in the First World War and Ireland.  

This event is organised as part of the Belfast Somme 100 programme.
