Easter Rising

Thousands of Irishmen were fighting at the front when the Rising took place. Several more thousand were in Ireland, acting to suppress the Rising.

Dr Brian Hanley will examine the role of Irish soldiers during 1916, the many connections between the rebels and the British military and the incidents where Irishmen on both sides faced each other directly.

Dr Brian Hanley is a historian and author whose books include The IRA, 1926-36 and (with Scott Millar) The Lost Revolution: the Story of the Official IRA and the Workers Party.
