'Fields of Battle, Lands of Peace: The Doughboys 1917-1918' is the work of renowned photo-journalist, historian and battlefields guide, Michael St Maur Sheil.

To mark its opening in Belfast this September, Sheil is delivering a lecture on the exhibition at the Linen Hall Library, with a particular focus on the American dimension in the Great War.

Belfast City Council will host the large, outdoor photographic exhibition in the grounds of Belfast City Hall during September, with imagery depicting life during the First World War.

Captured over a period of eight years, Fields of Battle, Lands of Peace: The Doughboys 1917-1918 is an acclaimed series of photographic images that document the battlefields of the First World War as they are today.
