A First World War remembrance day event for Key Stage 3 students will take place at the QFT in Belfast on November 11 with a screening of 'A Night at the Cinema in 1914'.

Pupils will have the opportunity to interact with a young actor in First World War uniform followed by a commentary screening of 'A Night at the Cinema in 1914', a short film compilation of films made in 1914 which reflect the mood of society at the outbreak of war.

The film includes footage from Emmaline Pankhurst and the suffrage movement as well as Charlie Chaplin's 'Johnnie'. This will be followed by a screening of the Battle of the Somme documentary and footage from Northern Ireland Screen's Digital Film Archive.

School groups can also book a free post-film tour of Queen's University and First World War sites that afternoon. Admission is £3 per pupil.
