A day long conference will take place in Monaghan this October exploring the impact of the First World War on the border counties. 

Organised by the Ulster Local History Trust, the event will include topics and discussions such as 'Nationalism and the First World War', 'No likely End - The War in Poetry' and 'Women of the Belroid - Belgian Refugees in Monaghan'.

Speakers and presenters throughout the day include Fergal McCluskey from Queen's University, Belfast, Ian Montgomery of PRONI and independent historian Jack Johnston.
